SANDRA BEASLEY, NICK DEMSKE, REBECCA HAZELTON, & the fiction and music of JASON T. LEWIS.

The Readers:

SANDRA BEASLEY is the author of three books: I Was the Jukebox, which won the 2009 Barnard Women Poets Prize; Theories of Falling, which won the 2007 New Issues Poetry Prize; and Don’t Kill the Birthday Girl: Tales from an Allergic Life, a memoir and cultural history of food allergies. She lives in Washington, D.C and carries a flask.

NICK DEMSKE lives in Racine Wisconsin and works there at the Racine Public Library. His self-titled manuscript, NICK DEMSKE, was chosen by Joyelle McSweeney for the Fence Modern Poets Series Award and published by Fence Books in 2010. He is a founder and editor of the online forum boo: a journal of terrific things and curates the BONK! performance series in Racine. 

JASON T. LEWIS was born in West Virginia and is a graduate of the fiction program at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. His writing has appeared in Yemassee, Connotation Press, Little Village, and Tape Op. His story “Heroic Measures” was recently published as an ebook single by Boxfire press. His first novel, The Fourteenth Colony: a novel with music, will be published in November 2011 along with a companion album of songs written by Jason in the voice of the novel’s protagonist.
REBECCA HAZELTON received her MFA from Notre Dame, her PhD from Florida State, and fellowships from the University of Wisconsin Creative Writing Institute and the Vermont Studio Center. Her work is forthcoming or published in Agni, The Southern Review, The Gettysburg Review, Pleiades, and other journals. She teaches creative writing at Beloit College.
